ATHENS, Ala. (WHNT) - The City of Athens is asking residents to participate in a planning survey by the end of the week.

The city is conducting a planning survey to get input from citizens about future growth such as retail and industrial.  The deadline to participate is Friday, March 1.

This survey is for those who live or work in Athens.  The questions revolve around what type of local events a person attends, level of satisfaction regarding city services, funding priorities and the type of growth a person wants to see in Athens.

To fill out the survey, go to athensal.us and click the blue banner at the top that says "Planning Survey."  Or, click on this direct link to the survey.

Paper copies also are available at Public Works and City Hall.

Once the information is compiled, City Planner Mac Martin will hold public meetings to share the results and get more input.
