Flint River Bridge Widening Project Underway
MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Road improvements are starting to take shape on Winchester Road in Madison County. Drivers have called us about markers going up near the Flint River bridge.
The bridge widening project is expected to take two years. Buddy Gatlin, of the Madison County District 1 office, said the existing bridge will stay up while crews build the new one. Then, they’ll demolish the old bridge and widen the new one once it is ready.
County crews began work clearing trees from the right-of-way and are now ready for he next step of relocating utility lines.
Eventually, Winchester will be widened from Dominion Circle all the way to Bell Factory Road, but that project will come after the bridge widening is complete. More details on the road project here.
