Gas Station Customer Shot, Police Looking For Shooter
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Huntsville Police are investigating a shooting at a gas station.
It happened around 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Chevron service station near the intersection of Highway 53 and Mastin Lake.
An investigator at the scene said two people got in an argument inside the convenience store and one pulled a gun and fired shots at the other as they walked outside.
Police identified the victim as 25-year-old Richard Smartt, and an investigator told WHNT News 19 Smartt suffered multiple gunshot wounds at close range.
HEMSI took Smartt to Huntsville Hospital and police tell WHNT News 19 he is receiving treatment for life-threatening injuries. We are working to get an update on his condition.
Witnesses told police they saw a dark-colored, two door Mercedes leaving the scene right after the shooting. Investigators believe the Mercedes is a newer model.
