SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (WHNT) — Officers responded to a tip about suspicious activity at Goosepond Industrial Park and found three men with a truck full of cabinets and shelves.
Lieutenant Scott Matthews said Scottsboro police arrested Anthony Littles, David Jones, and Joshua Snodgrass for burglary, theft, and possession of burglar tools.
“A witness saw three individuals going into this building and the witness knew it didn’t look right, and was familiar with the area and didn’t think the guys should be in the building. He called the police department and officers responded and apprehended the guys as they were taking scrap metal out of the building,” Matthews said.
Investigators said the three men were probably going to sell the metal to a scrapyard.
Matthews said Littles had methamphetamine in his pockets, so he faces additional charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers also found marijuana in the truck, and charged Littles and Jones with possession.
“It goes hand in hand, drug crime, it usually follows up with thefts and stuff like that. Most crimes unfortunately revolve around drugs and a drug addiction,” Matthews said.
The industrial park is an isolated part of town, so police are thankful for the tip.
“It’s good to be vigilant in neighborhoods, around businesses, and if you see something suspicious, give authorities a call. It doesn’t cost anything to call us, and let us check it out and make sure it’s on the up and up,” Matthews said.
