Students Test Math Skills In Competition At U.S. Space & Rocket Center
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Hundreds of students from Alabama and Georgia, and even one from California faced off in a math skills competition this week at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.
The event was the annual Mathematics Tournament hosted by Grissom High School. Forty-three schools were represented, sending 760 students in grades 7-12 to participate. Students competed in five different categories: Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Comprehensive, and involved both a written test and ciphering.
Many local students took home awards, including students from Whitesburg, Challenger, Hampton Cove, and Mountain Gap taking home honors in many of the categories.
