MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – The Madison County Board of Education held a special meeting Thursday to discuss the school calendar.
The board approved calendars for 2013-2014 and 2014-2015. There is also an alternate calendar for 2013-2014 in case the Alabama Legislature approves a bill to give local school systems more control of their calendars. The alternate 2013-2014 calendar includes a fall break.
The mandated legislation that all school systems follow one calendar ends in 2014. Superintendent David Copeland recommended another school calendar for 2014-2015, which also includes a fall break. The board approved it.
