SHEFFIELD, Ala. (WHNT) – The civil service hearing for a police chief fired for insubordination is set to reconvene Friday afternoon in the Shoals.

Former Sheffield Police Chief Greg Ray is trying to gain his post back after being fired in October of 2012 by Mayor Ian Sanford.

The civil service hearing began last Thursday and was adjourned after nine hours of testimony.

Attorneys for Ray say they plan to have Ray on the stand to defend himself against allegations of not following orders from the mayor and city council.

The board meeting is set to begin at 1 p.m. and is open to everyone.
