HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A high speed chase that began on Highway 20 in Madison around noon Saturday ended on I-565 in Huntsville with a 3-vehicle crash just east of Sparkman Drive.
East bound traffic on the interstate was backed up for miles during the police investigation that followed.
Huntsville police say they received a call of a red SUV driving recklessly on I-565.
The caller told police the offender pulled up beside him and pointed a gun at his car. Officers located the car traveling on I-565 and tried to pull the man over.
Police say Francisco Casique was driving the Red SUV and refused to stop. The chase went onto Madison Boulevard and then back Eastbound on 565.
Police say Casique hit a Nissan Maxima, but there were no injuries in that wreck. They they threw out sticks to attempt to stop his car. After hitting the stop sticks, Casique then hit another car and a minivan. Both drivers of those vehicles were taken to Huntsville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Casique was also taken to the hospital, and police say when he is released from there he will be charged with felony attempting to flee, DUI, and leaving the scene of an accident.
