MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. (WHNT) - Police are investigating a residential robbery and assault that sent the home-owner to the hospital.
Investigators say this incident is very alarming due to the fact that right now they have very few leads to go on.
On a quiet north-east Muscle Shoals street, investigators say the unthinkable happened inside one of the homes Wednesday night.
According to police, three men went into a home, startling a sixty-nine year old man and his two female family members.
Statements given to police say the men were looking for something specific, and investigators say by the time they left, the male home owner had been severely beaten.
“When you have anything like that take place in or around a residence,” Muscle Shoals Police Chief Robert Evans said, “it seems to be that much more critical.”
Chief Evans says during the fight a pistol was fired, and the bullet traveled just inches from the home owner, striking a headboard on the bed.
Police believe the men responsible for this robbery and assault are in their mid to late twenties.
“We are still collecting information from the victim, and trying to fully and completely determine what took place that evening,” explained Evans.
Investigators say before leaving the robbers took a television, pistol, and prescription pills from the home.
