Blake Bottom Road Project Moving Forward

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — County leaders are making big strides toward a highly anticipated road project in the Harvest and Monrovia area.

“Blake Bottom Road is a major road access,” says Madison County Commission Chairman Dale Strong, “before Research Park Boulevard was open, more than 17,000 cars a day were traveling on that road.”

That’s why Chairman Strong says the overpass is necessary. He says Madison County continues to grow in population, and that means road improvements are always needed to continue to keep drivers safe.

The Blake Bottom Road overpass was announced in the fall of 2012. The Madison County Commission has approved agreements with two companies to start working on the road project.

The overpass construction is expected to cost around $5.1 million dollars and should take about 3 years of work. Chairman Strong says the county is waiting to hear from the Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program to help with funding as well.
