Alabama A&M Prepares For Texas Two Step
Normal, Ala. - The Alabama A&M basketball teams will head to Houston, Texas for two contests first versus Texas Southern University.
The Lady Bulldogs (6-11, 5-2) fell 76-63 to Southern University Monday evening. Jasmine Sanders dropped 32 points and pulled in 10 rebounds for a career high and her third double double of her Maroon & White career. Her efforts earned her a co-player of the week nod from the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
TSU, who is led by Cynthia Cooper, is 6-1 in the league and 9-9 in the conference is riding a six game win streak after a 58-47 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Gianne Fleming leads the team averaging 10.9 points per game and 5.1 rebounds in 17 games played.
The A&M men’s team (3-4, 7-11) got 20 points and 13 boards from Demarquelle Tabb who came off the bench in their 82-68 loss to the Jaguars. It was the preseason defensive player of the year 16th career double double and his season high in points.
The Tigers are 5-2 in the conference and 6-14 overall. They are led by Omar Strong who is averaging 16.3 points in 19 games started. Texas Southern won 75-48 over Mississippi Valley in their most recent contest.
