Reportedly one of the bigger discussion points between UAHuntsville and the Western Collegiate Hockey Association involved travel subsidies. Huntsville is at least a nine-hour drive from any other WCHA school so the league wanted the Chargers to give other members money for making the trip down to Huntsville.
This is nothing new to the league. Both Alaska schools also provide travel subsidies to their opponents to make the trip to the Last Frontier.
UAH officials say the subsidy is a price they have to pay to be a part of the league.
