HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - For the first time since announcing the move to the WCHA, those closest to the UAH hockey program spoke to the media about the transition.

There are several advantages to joining the league.  First, UAH will no longer be independent.  That perhaps posed some of the bigger problems for the Chargers.  As of this week, their record these last three seasons is 9-71-4.

Second, the team will be joining a stable conference that's not only been around since 1951, it's produced 37 national champions.

Finally, it will renew some long-standing rivalries like with Bemidji State and Bowling Green.  While there are other advantages and details still to be worked out, UAH says the celebration is continuing.
