Boaz Woman Arrested; Newborn Tests Positive For Meth

BOAZ, Ala. (WHNT) – A Marshall County woman is being held on half a million dollars bond after she gave birth and the baby tested positive for methamphetamine.
Laura Jean Murphree, 31, of Boaz, was arrested Sunday morning as she was released from a local hospital. She is charged with chemical endangerment of a child.
The newborn is currently in a hospital receiving special care. The baby was born Friday.
