ROGERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A school fight Wednesday in Lauderdale County ended with one girl being transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The school system is confirming the incident, and has launched an investigation.
School officials say Wednesday, during school hours, two female students got into a physical altercation at Lauderdale County High School in Rogersville..
By the time the fight ended, officials say one of the female students sustained injuries that were so bad; she had to be transported to Huntsville hospital.
Lauderdale County School Superintendent Jennifer Gray is staying tight lipped about the incident.
“I’m not at liberty to discuss names or specifics of the incident, but like I said we are conducting an investigation,” Gray said.
Superintendent Gray says that it is school board policy to investigate all physical incidents and hand down the appropriate punishment.
Gray says that the student code of conduct does not tolerate any form of violence, and she is pleased in the way the school system is handling the incident.
“Like always, look at our safety plans and make sure that if there is anything that we can do better, and we will take that into account.”
School officials say the female student was treated and released from Huntsville Hospital and is resting at home.
Lauderdale County School Superintendent Jennifer Gray says the system could suspend the students involved in the fight or send them to alternative school for a set period of time.
