UPDATE: Huntsville Police Charge Two With Murder
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Two people are charged with Murder in Huntsville after police officers found a body near Spragins Hollow Road on Monday morning.
The investigation began on Saturday around 2:00 p.m. when police say they received a dispatch for shots being fired near Arcadia Circle. Police say they didn’t find anyone injured, however they found evidence of blood in the parking lot.
On Sunday, police say they found a Cadillac in a ditch off of Spragins Hollow Road matching descriptions from witnesses the day before.
It wasn’t until Monday morning that the body of John Mark Allen was found near the location where the car was discovered.
Spragins Hollow Road is west of Memorial Parkway, north of Winchester Road. The body was found near Wade Mountain Greenway.
Police say Randle Earl Hewlett and Mercedes Lynea Douglas are both charged with Murder.
Hewlett is also charged with Obstruction of Government Operations and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
Douglas faces additional charges of Theft of Property and Resisting Arrest.
Both are being held in the Madison County Jail without bond.
