HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Samuel Ward was sentenced to 20 years in prison Friday for assaulting a Huntsville police officer.

Ward attacked Officer Kevin Lambert in April of 2010 after Lambert suspected Ward and his brother of being involved in a drug transaction.  A jury found him guilty in November 2012.

Ward also faces attempted murder charges after a 2011 incident where he allegedly fired at Huntsville police officers in the Butler Terrace neighborhood.  Police shot Ward multiple times during that incident.
