Managers Anticipate Packed Bars, Restaurants For Title Game

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.(WHNT)-College football powerhouses Alabama and Notre Dame are set to collide Monday night, with fever pitch excitement for the national championship game potentially giving a boost to some local businesses.

Local sports bars and pubs througout north Alabama are expecting capacity crowds Monday night, with many starting their preparations for the big game on Sunday. Brickhouse Sports Cafe manager Matthew Dade was trying to get a head start on what could end up being a record-setting night at the cash register.

“We’re making sure that we’re stocked up on beer and wings and everything else,” said Dade, who added that the Village of Providence-based pub would be fully staffed on Monday night. “Of course, it’s always good having Alabama or one of the Alabama teams in there, so I know it’s going to be really crowded. Everyone is already calling in, trying to get reservations, trying to get in, letting us know they’re coming. We’re expecting a pretty full house.”

Managers at the Brickhouse and other nearby locales said they expect gameday patrons to start coming in as early as mid-afternoon Monday. Many of those fans told WHNT News 19 that they would have a hard time sleeping Sunday night, with some even resorting to superstition.

“I’m so excited,” said Alabama fan Alan Kratz. “I think the more you say ‘Roll Tide’, the more our chances of winning. So I just say it as much as possible.”
