HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Community groups are organizing an informal ceremony this Friday evening in Huntsville to honor the children of Newtown, Conn.

The event will be at 5 p.m. at Big Spring Park near the Lighthouse, at the north end of the Downtown Forty-Seven Tinsel Trail.  Everyone is invited.

Organizers say part of the ceremony will include the lighting of candles.  You can bring a candle if you like, and some candles will be provided.

There is also a tree along the Tinsel Trail that is designated to represent children.  If you would like to add a decoration, there is a basket next to the tree where you can place it.  Volunteers will put the decorations on the tree for safety reasons.

The event is a collaboration of Inclusive Community Initiative and Beloved Community Alabama.
