BOAZ, Ala. (WHNT) — Boaz Police seized 75 pounds of marijuana and $2,400 cash while investigating a call about suspicious activity Tuesday evening.
Officers arrested a 19-year-old Boaz woman and two men from Texas in their 20s.

Boaz Police Chief Terry Davis said this is the largest amount of marijuana seized in Boaz in his 20 years with the department.

Officers went to the house on Idlewild Street to investigate a possible burglary.

Police said they could smell the marijuana from outside the house and the aroma was overwhelming when a person inside opened the front door.

Investigators said the drug traffickers formed bricks of marijuana to fit in a spare tire.

Police said the 75 pounds are worth between $75,000 and $150,000, and could be sold for twice that amountwhen split into ounces and sold individually.

Police seized $2400 cash, including thirteen $100 bills, fifty-four $20, two $5, four $2, and two $1. No $10 bills.

The money will go into a police seizure account.

The three people arrested are charged with drug trafficking.
