Michael Leon Taylor, charged with human trafficking

MADISON, Ala. (WHNT)–Madison Police say the Federal Bureau of Investigation asked them to help serve a search warrant at the Motel 6 located at Madison Boulevard early Friday morning.

The search at approximately 5 a.m. led to the arrest of 25-year-old Michael Leon Taylor and four others from the Memphis, Tennessee area. Lieutenant Damien Williams of the Madison Police Department says this is not an investigation initiated by his department.

On Thursday December 6th, the Madison Police Department was contacted by local agents from the F.B.I. to assist on a possible case of human trafficking. The F.B.I. had received information from the National Human Trafficking Resource Center that a 15-year-old female from Memphis, Tennessee was possibly engaging in prostitution in the Madison area along with adults from Memphis. The tip gave the location as the Motel 6 at 8995 Madison Boulevard. Madison Police Detectives along with the F.B.I. and members of the Madison County Narcotics Unit set up surveillance on the motel and identified what appeared to be prostitution activities taking place. A search warrant was served on three rooms at the motel and the female juvenile was located and identified with matching information from the tip. The following individuals were identified as assisting in the prostitution of the juvenile and were charged with Human Trafficking 1st. They were taken to the Madison County Jail with $50,000 bond each. The investigation with local and federal authorities continues and more charges may be pending. The juvenile is currently in the care of the Alabama Department of Human Resources.
