Local PTA Councils To Host Legislative Forum Dec. 10
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Local PTA councils invite parents to attend a public forum next week in preparation for next year’s Alabama legislative session.
The forum will be Monday, December 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Columbia High School, located at 300 Explorer Boulevard in Huntsville.
The event will be hosted by the Huntsville and Madison City PTAs.
PTA representatives say the goals of the event are to inform the public about education items legislators will consider in the upcoming session. These items include the school calendar, school funding issues, vouchers, and teacher pay.
State Senator Bill Holtzclaw is scheduled to be at the forum and will demonstrate ALISON, the online bill tracking system the public can use to check the status of a bill.
State Senator Arthur Orr and State Representatives Mike Ball and Terri Collins are also scheduled to attend. Other north Alabama legislators have been invited.
There is no cost to attend. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Registration for the event is encouraged but not required. You can register here.
