Bridge Street Donates Fountain Money to Food Bank
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – When you throw a coin into a fountain at Bridge Street Town Centre you’re doing more than making a wish or asking for luck, you’re also helping out a north Alabama charity.
Bridge Street will donate all money thrown in the fountains to the Food Bank of North Alabama through 2013.
The coins are collected quarterly, with management estimating they dredge up about $300 each time.
The Food Bank of North Alabama serves more than 100,000 people each year.
“Donations like this are vital to our operation because even after the holidays are over, the demand is still there. People are still hungry in North Alabama,” said Kathryn Strickland, Executive Director of the Food Bank.
The Food Bank can provide 6 meals for every $1 donated.
