Evaluating Potential Auburn Head Coaching Candidates

It seems like every year, a high school football recruit will switch his commitment from Alabama or Auburn to its archrival.  It may be hard to believe a coach could do the same thing.  But one of the names surfacing as a potential replacement for Gene Chizik is Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart.

Nick Saban’s right-hand man has been with the program ever since his boss took over on on the Capstone.  While he is originally from Montgomery and has been a part of the SEC for several years, Saban says no one has called him for permission to speak to Smart or any of his other assistants.
