TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WHNT) – The Iron Bowl is Saturday at 2:30 p.m.  Make sure you plan ahead to arrive in Tuscaloosa with plenty of time to tailgate.

Most people will Interstate 20/59, but there are alternate routes you can use to avoid traffic backups.  Check uagameday.com for information on traffic flow, parking, routes and street closings.

If you’re coming from Birmingham or points east or south of Birmingham, avoid I-459 and take I-20/59 through downtown Birmingham.  This way you’ll avoid the backup at the I-459 and I-20/59 interchange in Bessemer.

You may also run into heavy on I-20/59 South, just before exit 79.   At this point, the Interstate goes from three lanes to two, and there are often delays from traffic merging.  Avoid this trouble spot by taking the Highway 216 route (exit 100) or the Highway 11 route (exit 89).

Please use uagameday.com to plan ahead and find the best route for you.
