Fire Destroys Home, Man Critically Injured

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A fire destroyed a mobile home Friday morning, critically injuring a man.

The fire happened around 4:30 a.m. on the corner of Townsend Road and Watson Road.  Authorities on scene tell WHNT News 19 that Jan Powers, 51, escaped through a back window, but he suffered from smoke inhalation and cuts.  He was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment.

Family members suspect a space heater is to blame, but an official cause has not been determined.
