Huntsville Half Marathon Is Saturday Morning
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – About 1,000 runners are looking forward to the Huntsville Half Marathon on Saturday morning.
Or, at least some of them are. A few are just flat-out nervous.
The race starts at 8 a.m. at Hillwood Baptist Church, off Kohler Road facing South Memorial Parkway. Registration is closed.
Runners go north up Hillwood Road and through some neighborhood streets, turning around at Curtis Drive and then back down Hillwood. Runners go past the church and then south on Mountain Gap Trail, Chicamauga Trail, Wynterhall, Chaney Thompson, Green Cove Road and up a portion of the Aldridge Creek Greenway. Runners then turn around and take the same way back to the church. Here is a course map.
Please be aware of the runners if you live along these streets, and please try to avoid these streets to avoid delays.
Each runner is asked to bring a canned food item or two to help stock the pantry at Hillwood Baptist Church.
The race should wrap up by 11 or 11:30 a.m. Good luck to all the runners!
