Suspect Charged in Death of Megan Sharpton
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Tenn. (WHNT) — A grand jury has indicted a suspect in the July death of a Middle Tennessee nursing student.
Megan Sharpton, 24, was found dead July 2 near the Awalt Bridge in Franklin County.
Donnie Jones, 37, of Tullahoma, TN, who was considered a person of interest in the case, is now charged with first-degree murder, felony murder, two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping and two counts of aggravated rape.
Jones was already in custody on an unrelated charge. He’s being held without bond and has a preliminary hearing in Franklin County Circuit Court scheduled for Friday, November 16 at 9 a.m.
