Huntsville Teen Dies After Overnight Car Wreck

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A Huntsville teen died after an overnight wreck on Mountain Gap Road.

It happened around 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning in the 700 block of Mountain Gap Road.

According to investigators, the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree.  One of the passengers, Tyreez Marquay Thompson, suffered critical injuries during the accident and was transported to Huntsville Hospital.

Thompson was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon.  He graduated from Johnson High School in May.

The driver of the car and another passenger were also transferred to Huntsville Hospital.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.  Huntsville Police tell WHNT News 19 that toxicology test results are pending.
