FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - A bus ride home for some Franklin County students was anything but ordinary when a pickup truck slammed into the back of the bus Thursday.
The accident happened on Alabama Highway 172 in the Hodges community.
Several students were injured, along with the bus driver and truck driver.
The Franklin County Schools superintendent says all of the students are out of the hospital. Some are even went back to school Friday, others are recovering at their home. The superintendent says all of their injuries were minor.
“We've been blessed to find out they are all OK," said superintendent, Gary Williams.
Immediately after the accident, students were rushed to nearby hospitals with every available ambulance.
“It's always a concern when someone hits a school bus," said Williams.
The bus toppled on its side and a rescue effort for students started right away.
"That was a big shock to them and they will think about that next time and for several weeks probably from now when they get on the bus. There will be some fear, I know there will," said Williams.
