TUSCUMBIA, Ala. (WHNT) — Alabama State Troopers are investigating after a woman apparently slammed into the back of a log truck.  One of the logs busted through her windshield, killing her.

It happened around 5:00 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 72 near Highway 247.  The Colbert County Coroner said Sheila Ann Warren, 37, of Cherokee died at the scene.

Her 4-year-old child was in the vehicle, and was taken to Helen Keller Hospital.   We understand the child’s injuries were minor.

Richard Ford, 39, of Vina was driving the 2010 Peterbilt truck.  He was not hurt.

State Troopers continue their investigation into the crash, but say it appears Warren was texting while driving, and that may have contributed to the crash.
