Tavares Fletcher Pleads Guilty To Capital Murder
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A man already in jail convicted of attempted murder entered a guilty plea Wednesday for another crime.
Tavares Fletcher pleaded guilty to capital murder for the death of Jerry Richard during a robbery in 2008. The crime happened at a Regions Bank in Huntsville.
Richard was working at the bank when he was killed.
Fletcher will still have to stand trial, and that will begin on Monday. Under Alabama law, a capital murder case must be presented to a jury, even if the defendant pleads guilty.
Fletcher is already serving a life sentence without parole for the attempted murder of gymnastics teacher Meg Hall.
