JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Investigators in Jackson County found the body of a Scottsboro man after a five-day search.

Family members reported 25-year-old Michael Richard Harden, Jr. missing October 24.

Jackson County Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen said about 50 people, many from about 10 volunteer fire departments and rescue teams, spent Tuesday morning at the abandoned Fabius Coal Mines near Flat Rock.

Harden was last seen nearby, and searchers found his body in woods around 10:30 a.m.

They say initial reports look as though drowning is the cause of death, but investigators sent his body to Hunstville for an autopsy.
