Restaurant Ratings: It’s Hot, it’s Cold, it’s a Critical Violation
Sausage balls sitting at room temperature, cold hot dogs and warm salad bars. Food held at the wrong temperature could easily make you sick. We’ve got the names of who’s not cutting the mustard in this weeks “Restaurant Ratings.”
First up, Ruby Tuesday at 21366 Athens Limestone Lane in Athens with a score of 82.
- Potentially hazardous food on the salad bar had a temperature of 60F. (41F is the max. temp. for cold holding)
- Broken ice buckets.
- Damaged wire skimmer in use.
- They also had 7 non-critical violations as well.
Next, Southern Fixin Steakhouse & Buffet at 9565 Highway 53 in Ardmore with a score of 84.
- Cold holding: Foods (such as hot dogs at 46 degree) did not meet temperature requirements.
Finally, Granna’s Goodies at 774 US Highway 431 in Boaz with a score of 82.
- Opened drink bottle in cooler.
- Sausage balls at room temperature with no timer in place.
Keep in mind, at all restaurants in the state of Alabama, a satisfactory score is 85 or above. A score of 59 or less would result in an immediate suspension of a restaurant’s food permit and they would close.
An establishment that scores below 85 is required to correct their critical violations within 24 to 48 hours and be re-inspected within 60 days. A score of below 60 results in closure and the establishment will not be allowed to legally re-open until all critical violations are abated and their inspection score is 85 or above.
As for our Golden Spoon award, Dream Cakes by Pam at 209 Sparkman Street in Hartselle scored a perfect 100.
