Decatur’s Habitat For Humanity Builds Two Houses, Receives Donation From Wells Fargo

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – Two new houses are nearing completion on Olive Street, in an old Decatur neighborhood. Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity began building the homes just a few weeks ago but say both houses should be ready for occupancy before Thanksgiving.

For Tessa Swindle and her family, she says “It means everything, everything.”

On Thursday, the work site was filled with people in red t-shirts, volunteers from Wells Fargo.

“This is just one way we can give something back to the community, and I’m proud to say our company has a well established history of doing just that,” according to Mike McCrary, a Wells Fargo area manager. He and the other bank volunteers halted work just before noon Thursday to present Habitat for Humanity a check for $11,500.00.

Their combined efforts will help revitalize an old neighborhood, resulting in two new homes where there were once vacant lots. But for two Decatur families, it means a very special Thanksgiving, in a new home.
