An Orange Pair: Tigers and Pumpkins

ATTALLA, Ala. (WHNT) -- Some kids want to dress up as tigers for Halloween, but real tigers also enjoy the pumpkin-filled October festivities.

This month the Tigers for Tomorrow animal rescue program in DeKalb County is giving their big cat some big pumpkins as part of their enrichment programs.

Executive director Sue Steffens says the animals do different things throughout the year.

"This time of year every year what we do is we take pumpkins and toss them in with the big cats," Steffens said.

"They can run around and play with them, they usually smash them to pieces."

You can even bring your own pumpkin to give to the big cat of your choice.

"It's a great time for the visitors to come out and to watch the cats get really active, and they have a good time playing with them," Steffens said.

The big cat pumpkin tosses are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays in October.

You can find more information at the Tigers for Tomorrow website.
