Man Indicted For Capital Murder In Florence
FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) – A man will now stand trial for the murder of his cousin earlier this year. Friday, a Lauderdale County grand jury indicted Raymond Junior Clemons for capital murder.
The crime happened July 19, 2012. Jerry Lewis Ivy, 50, was shot in the chest while sitting in a car with his sister at the intersection of Conner Street and Central Avenue.
Clemons and Ivy were cousins, and Florence Police say the shooting was the result of an ongoing dispute between the two men.
Clemons has been in jail since the shooting. Prior to that night, he was out of jail on a suspended sentence, but a judge withdrew that. He will remain in jail until the trial.
