New Business Opens In Old Limestone Furniture Mart Locations
LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – The building where the Limestone Furniture Mart was located, on Highway 72, was vacant for months.
This, after a long, drawn-out saga involving the owner being arrested and charged with theft by deception.
Now, there’s a new chapter for the facility and new owners who want to wipe the slate clean. The new store is Barnett and Swann Home Furnishings. It will hold a grand opening celebration early next month.
The company already has one store location in Athens, just east of the Publix supermarket. Barnett and Swann opened this second location just three weeks ago.
The company currently has no rating with the Better Business Bureau, but it has been in business in Limestone County since 2005.
Owner Doug Barnett told us he wants to make sure customers know his business has nothing to do Limestone Furniture Mart or its previous owners.
Barnett says what happened to many people was unfortunate, and says customers should expect the utmost quality in service from his company.
Barnett says the decision to even occupy a building shrouded with such negativity came with a lot of thought, but says he believes the company’s reputation will outshine any lingering doubts formed in the public’s perception.
His message to everyone: If you pay for it, you’ll get it.
