Dynetics Employee Recovering After Explosion On Arsenal
REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. (WHNT) – A local man is healing after suffering injuries in an explosion Tuesday morning on Redstone Arsenal.
Bill Barber, a Dynetics employee, was doing contract work at AMRDEC headquarters, or Building 5400. He was hurt in a small explosion and rushed to Huntsville Hospital.
Barber is still in the hospital, where he underwent surgery on his left hand. He lost some fingers.
“He is doing fine,” his family members said.
Several agencies continue to investigate what caused the explosion, including the Redstone Arsenal’s Military Police investigative agencies and safety professionals from AMRDEC and Garrison Safety Offices. Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel from Fort Campbell, Ky., are also assisting in the investigation.
An inspector from the Birmingham Office of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is also conducting an investigation.
