Sales Tax Increase Proposed in Athens
ATHENS, Ala. (WHNT) – You’ve heard the only two things certain in life are death and taxes. For residents in the city of Athens, the back half of that could be going up soon.
The Athens City Council is considering raising the city’s sales tax by one percent. The city’s mayor says it necessary.
But what’s raising eyebrows is the timing of the measure. WHNT News 19′s Al Whitaker explains.
