MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) – A big announcement came Tuesday from the Hexagon group, which owns Intergraph in Madison. Pretty soon, employees will be working out of a brand new headquarters.
Crowds gathered for the big announcement at 305 Intergraph Way. The company will soon start construction on the same campus. The new building will house 1,100 of its employees.
Company leaders say they believe in the building.
“I think it’s really important because we’re a high-tech company with dedicated, very qualified, skilled people, and I think it’s important that they have a working environment to match their skills,” said Ola Rollen, Intergraph CEO. Rollen is also President and CEO of Hexagon.
More than hard hats and shovels will go into the construction efforts. It will also take a huge wad of cash.
“This building is roughly a $60 million investment that Hexagon will invest on these premises, and then we will see if there will be further investments into this campus,” said Rollen.
Community leaders who attended the ceremony seemed thrilled. Part of the reason might be the prospect of future growth.
“Our idea of course is to expand. Ten years ago, Hexagon had 2,000 employees, and now we’re 13,000,” said Rollen. “So we’re not going to stop now.”
Now the ground is broken and the process is underway.
The new headquarters will encompass most of the current staff at Intergraph. It should open in summer of 2014.
Intergraph provides engineering and geospatial software to various companies around the world.
