On Sunday, October 14, 2012, 2-4:30 p.m., at historic Maple Hill Cemetery,
more than 65 costumed characters will “come alive” to represent notables
from the past during the annual Maple Hill Cemetery Stroll.
Maple Hill was deeded to the city in 1822 and is one the largest cemeteries in Alabama,
with almost 80,000 people buried within its grounds. Years of damage from pollution, vandalism and neglect necessitated the need for an organization that helps ensure the preservation of this historical landmark.
This event is free to the public, but donations are welcome. All money raised helps with the upkeep of the cemetery.
