FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) - After a fatal hit and run accident that killed Da’Santo Ingram, his classmates must cope with the boy's unexpected death.
Ingram was a 7th grader at Central School.
Students and staff set up a homemade memorial inside the school to remember the student.
As student's walk down the halls, they see Ingram's smiling face. While a tragic accident took Tay's life too soon, his classmates remember the good times, by writing cards and letters to the late student.
“We just have to be compassionate and be there for them, and we`ll get through it,” said principal Mr. Ryan Harrison.
It's a tragedy for these young students to comprehend and cope with but the notes all express student's final words to Ingram.
“Doing a lot better today, yesterday was tough,” said Harrison. “He had brothers and sisters here so it was not only to our 7th grade, it was to some of our other grades.”
Funeral arrangements have been scheduled on Friday for the teenager.
Family and friends can say their final goodbyes during a visitation at the Spry-Williams Funeral Home in Florence from noon until 2:00 pm.
A graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm at the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery in Florence.
