Guntersville Race Not Decided; Albertville Candidate Wins By 4 Votes

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - Four candidates are likely scratching their heads now that the votes from Tuesday's municipal runoffs have been counted in Guntersville and Albertville.

Two candidates tied in the race for Guntersville City Council District 1 once ballots had been counted at the single polling location.  With all of those votes counted, Samuel Stewart and Charles Avery each had 62 votes.  However, there were five absentee ballots.  Four of those went to Stewart and one to Avery. That would make it seem like Stewart won, right?

Not so fast.  There are still six provisional ballots that won't be counted until next week.

In Albertville, Jill Oakley won the City Council Place 2 race by just four votes over Markus Spicer.  With all of the votes counted, Oakley had 664 votes and Spicer had 660.  No word if there will be a recount.
