Huntsville Police Make Homicide Arrest

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Huntsville Police have made an arrest 24 hours after a man was found dead in his home the victim of a homicide.

Police say Ricky Ray Ingram was found dead inside a home at 2608 6th Avenue.  The incident happened late Tuesday night.

Police say after an intense investigation they have arrested Jeremy Nolen Thompson and charged him with murder. Thompson has been booked into the Madison County Jail.

Police say the investigation continues and are asking anyone with information about this case to contact police at  256-722-7100.

Investigators spent most of Wednesday going in and out of the home on 6th Avenue processing evidence. Investigators first classified the case as a death investigation, but later determined the case was a homicide.

One of Ingram's friends told WHNT NEWS 19 someone walking through the neighborhood noticed the front door to Ingram's home opened at an odd time, so went to check things out. The friend says that is when Ingram was found dead inside a bedroom.

An Alabama Department of Public Safety website lists Ingram as a sex offender.
