COURTLAND, Ala. (WHNT) - Promoters say approximately 5,000 people were on-hand for Saturday's air show. The skies were filled with many vintage military aircraft, plus planes designed and built for stunt flying.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was a performance by renowned pilot Greg Koontz, who posed as a man with an out-of-date certificate for a free airplane ride. He appeared at the air show wanting to redeem the certificate. Once inside a small aircraft and before the flight instructor was in the plane, Koontz operated the controls sending the plane veering down the runway eventually taking flight. Once it was revealed Koontz was in fact an accomplished pilot, he landed the plane on the back of a truck speeding down the runway.
