Police say a university of north Alabama student was sexually assaulted on campus.

After a late night of studying Wednesday, UNA officials say the victim was walking from the library to her car in the parking garage when the attack happened

“It’s very concerning for our entire campus community.  Something like this is not supposed to happen but our absolute top priority at this time is to care for the victim,” said UNA Spokesman, Josh Woods.

Officials say the victim was alone when a man approached the girl, and raped her.

“It`s of equal importance that we work with the campus community to assure the safety and security of everyone on this campus,” said Woods.

At this time police do not have a good description of the suspect, but want anyone in the area at the time of the incident to call police.

UNA officials encourage students to use the safety programs around campus, like calling for a police escort.
