Massachusetts DA Drops Murder Charge Against Amy Bishop
BRAINTREE, Mass. — The Boston Globe is reporting Amy Bishop will not be prosecuted for her brother’s 1986 murder in Massachusetts.
The Globe reports Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said because Bishop is now scheduled to end her life behind bars in Alabama, the first degree murder charge she faced in Massachusetts will not be actively pursued.
“We will not move to have her returned to Massachusetts,’’ Morrissey said in a statement. “The penalty we would seek for a first degree murder conviction is already in place.
Bishop was indicted in her brother Seth’s shooting death. His death had initially been ruled an accident, but the investigation was re-opened.
Bishop is now serving life in prison without parole for the February 2010 murders at UAHuntsville.
