TULLAHOMA, Tenn. (WHNT) – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man in connection with a Tullahoma nursing student’s murder.

Donnie Frank Jones is not charged in Megan Sharpton’s death.  However, he is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.  Deputies arrested him on Thursday.

Jones, 37, lives in Tullahoma.  He is being held on $500,000 bond.  He is scheduled to appear in court October 1.

Sharpton’s body was found in July at the Awalt Bridge in Franklin County.  It was burned.  Her car was found later that day at a different location.

Thursday, investigators searched Jones’ home on Bellaire Drive.  They said they found evidence related to the Sharpton case, and are waiting additional evidence from the TBI that may help the case move forward.

Franklin County Sheriff Tim Fuller said Jones could face more charges soon.
