HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Starting Monday, October 1, The Huntsville Times will cut delivery to three days a week.  The newspaper will be home-delivered and sold at newsstands only on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

In May, The Times announced it would cut delivery to three days per week.  It will also become part of the Alabama Media Group, which now publishes the newspaper in Birmingham instead of Huntsville.

The Alabama Media Group says it is making these changes to reshape how it delivers local news in an increasingly competitive digital age.  The Times say the papers will be more robust, with larger sections and more content, especially the forum.

The changes also meant 400 job cuts at The Times, The Birmingham News, The Mobile Press Register and al.com.
